A postdoctoral research position is available in the lab of Dr. Janet S. Rader in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the Medical College of Wisconsin. We are part of a highly interactive, interdisciplinary team of researchers with diverse backgrounds and expertise in a collaborative scientific environment. Project Details
The candidate will participate in a newly funded NIH research program aimed at identification and characterization of clinically relevant genes/pathways derived from human papillomavirus (HPV) integration signatures in cervical cancer. For this work, our laboratory leverages existing and newly generated multi-omics datasets from large cohorts of cervical cancer specimens from women with well-annotated clinical-pathologic data. The methodologies used in the research project include high-throughput sequencing technologies (Illumina and Oxford Nanopore), bioinformatic analyses of large patient datasets, cell culture, CRISPR/Cas9 gene editing, and various molecular biology assays. In collaboration with our international research team, the candidate will develop computational approaches to integrate and analyze these large datasets to identify genome structure and regulatory arrangements underlying gene expression variation surrounding integration events. The candidate may also employ wet lab techniques to suit their career goals. The candidate will be expected to publish and share their discoveries with the research community.

Ideal Candidate Qualifications
• The candidate shall have a strong background in bioinformatics, computational biology, systems biology, biomedical informatics, computer science, or a related field.
• Experience in bioinformatic analysis of large multi-omic datasets
• Strong data science skills are required ((proficiency in either R or Python is a must))Motivated to work in a team and passionate about cancer research
