Job Description
Postdoctoral appointment within the Low-Energy Nuclear Physics Research Group (LER) of the Physics Division at Argonne National Laboratory. LER performs world-leading research in nuclear structure, nuclear astrophysics, fundamental symmetries and nuclear data as well as managing and operating world-class detector systems as part of the ATLAS accelerator facility, a DOE supported national user facility for low-energy nuclear physics research. ATLAS has recently been upgraded and provides world-unique rare isotope beams from either the CARIBU (Californium Rare Ion Breeder Upgrade) source or our new in-flight production facility. In addition, members of the group are also planning experimental programs at the Facility for Rare Isotopes (FRIB).
The position is for 2 years, with the possibility of extension for up to 3 years depending on funding and performance.
Position Requirements
Recently received Ph.D. in nuclear physics or related discipline within the last 3 years of experience or equivalent
Experience at conceiving and executing experimental research projects and reporting the results
Strong background in the area of nuclear structure, nuclear reactions, nuclear astrophysics or fundamental symmetries
Experience with computer programming and data analysis.
