A postdoctoral position is available in the Cardiovascular Research Program under Dr. Elkhal, Immunologist at Huntington Medical Research Institutes (HMRI), Pasadena, California, to study the role of nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide (NAD+) in inflammation and cardiovascular disease.
We welcome applications from highly motivated and independent-minded individuals. The initial appointment will be for one year the possibility of extension depending on grant funding. Salary will be commensurate with postdoctoral scholar qualifications, laboratory experience, and institutional guidelines.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
• PhD degree in Biochemistry/Molecular Biology/Cell Biology
• Candidates with a good track record of publications, with a strong background in Immunology, biochemistry, molecular and/or cell biology.
• Experience in small animal handling and surgery is a prerequisite.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills and an aptitude for mentoring students
• Good judgment and decision-making capability
• Observes laboratory safety and security procedures
• Uses laboratory equipment and materials properly
• Must be a reliable and conscientious self-starter, with excellent attention to detail and ability
to coordinate multiple projects and deadlines
• Ability to build and maintain strong relationships with colleagues, building respect, consensus, and trust across reporting lines

HMRI is required to provide a reasonable estimate of the compensation range for this role. This range takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs per HMRI policy for Postdoc pay. Salary offers are determined based on final candidate qualifications and experience as outlined by guidance of NIH Postdoctoral years of experience. The full salary range for this position is defined as the Full Pay Range. The budgeted salary or hourly range at HMRI reasonably expects to pay for this position defined as the Expected Pay Scale. Placement within the Expected Pay Scale is determined by internal equity, and relevant qualifications per the NIH Postdoctoral years of experience.
Pay Transparency Act Full Salary Range: Postdoc 0 = $64,800 annually; Postdoc 1 = $65,230 annually; Postdoc 2 = $65,980 annually; Postdoc 3 = $66,730 annually; Postdoc 4 = $67,480 annually; Postdoc 5 = $68,230; Postdoc 6 = $68,980 annually; Postdoc 7 = $69,730 annually.
