Research Fellow in Aerosol-Climate Modelling
- University of Leeds
- Location: Leeds, United Kingdom
- Job Number: 7127600 (Ref #: ENVEE1647)
- Posting Date: Mar 9, 2023
Job Description
Are you an ambitious researcher looking for your next challenge? Do you have an established background in atmospheric modelling? Do you want to further your career in one of the UKs leading research intensive Universities?
The appointed researcher will work on two related aerosol-climate projects at Leeds: the EU project FORCES (Constrained aerosol forcing for improved climate projections) and the NERC project ADVANCE (Aerosol-cloud-climate interactions derived from Degassing VolcANiC Eruptions). Both projects involve climate model simulations designed to reduce uncertainty in the effects of aerosols on radiative forcing and climate. The FORCES project will use large sets of model simulations (perturbed parameter ensembles) and observations to constrain the magnitude of aerosol radiative forcing. In ADVANCE, the aim is to create a targeted perturbed parameter ensemble of the Holuraun Icelandic eruption in order to constrain model uncertainties associated with this "natural aerosol experiment".
