Job Description
Gloucester Marine Genomics Institute (GMGI) invites applications for the Ferrante Postdoctoral Fellowship Award in any of the major research areas conducted at GMGI. GMGI is an independent marine research institute with a mission to address critical challenges facing our oceans, human health, and the environment through innovative scientific research and education (https://gmgi.org/). Our research strategy uses molecular and genomic technologies to address questions related to Oceans and Human Health with three main focus areas (1) Marine Biomedicine & Biotechnology, (2) Ecosystem Function & Health and (3) Fisheries & Aquaculture.
Candidates are required to contact GMGI Research Scientists prior to submitting their application to identify mutual research interests and discuss potential research projects. Awards are competitive with a major emphasis on potential for independent, creative research. The Ferrante Fellowship is initially awarded for one year and supports twelve months of salary with a minimum stipend of $65,000 plus benefits. An additional twelve months of support will be granted pending satisfactory review, totaling 24 months.

QUALIFICATIONS
Candidates must have completed a PhD degree before the fellowship start date. Candidates with more than 3 years postdoctoral experience before the start date are ineligible. Applicants must be authorized to work in the US.

Research Proposal - A brief research proposal (3 pages maximum inclusive of references, Arial 11pt, single-spaced, 1-inch margins in all directions) describing research to be pursued during a two-year tenure and professional development statement (e.g., how this fellowship would complement your expertise and help to achieve your career goals). The proposal should include the following sections:

Goals and Objectives
Experimental Approach

Professional Development
References
Proposed research must be relevant to GMGI major research areas and must be discussed prior to submission with the proposed GMGI Research Scientist who will serve as the Postdoctoral Advisor.
Support Letter from proposed GMGI Postdoctoral Advisor - A support letter is required from a GMGI Research Scientist indicating their willingness to serve as Advisor and providing an assessment of the candidate's suitability for the proposed research.
Reference Letters - Two additional letters of reference are required, one of which must be from the candidate’s PhD supervisor.
