Job Description
Are you an ambitious researcher looking for your next challenge? Do you have an established background in engineering, thermodynamics and/or applied physics? Do you want to further your career in one of the UKs leading research-intensive universities?
You will play a leading role in modelling the lifecycle greenhouse gas emissions reduction potential of Molten Carbonate Fuel Cells (MCFC) when applied to Carbon Capture and Storage Applications, as well as evaluating their techno-economic benefits. The position will make you a key researcher within a multi-disciplinary and multi-university BEIS funded consortium, investigating the role that MCFCs can play in contributing to UK Net Zero and Energy Security objectives. You will focus on developing engineering-based Life Cycle and Techno-economic Assessments of an MCFC, drawing in data gathered from a pilot scale rig at the University of Sheffield.
Research will mainly draw on your background in engineering, thermodynamics and/or applied physics to predict how both costs and emissions are related to key systems-level parameters.
Further information on the UK BECCS-MCFC: Next generation CCUS technology for net zero 2050 project can be found in the Additional Information of the Candidate Brief.
