Job Description
Summary
The Zoghbi lab is seeking a postdoctoral research fellow to lead projects at the forefront of neuropsychiatric genomics, transcriptomics, and proteomics.The Zoghbi lab is leading several large scale initiatives to understand the genomic basis of schizophrenia, OCD, and neurodevelopmental disorders providing opportunities to conduct large scale common and rare variant GWAS/ExWAS. We are also developing novel machine learning methods to improve risk gene prediction and variant interpretation. This role will focus on the analysis of large-scale human genetics, scRNAseq, and proteomics datasets. There will also be opportunities to develop statistical methods and computational pipelines to streamline and improve the analysis and trainees on clinically impactful projects.
Job Duties
- Performs genomic analyses on large case-control cohorts to identify risk and response associations for diseases of interest.
- Performs integrative analyses of other molecular and omics data, such as gene expression data, metabolomics and/or proteomics.
- Develops robust pipelines for data annotation, analysis, and quality control.
- Creates analytical algorithms and tools to address scientific questions with big data.
- Leads the publishing of results.
- Supports and supervise trainees.
Minimum Qualifications
- MD or Ph.D. in Basic Science, Health Science, or a related field.
- No experience required.
Preferred Qualifications
- PhD in Computational Biology, Genomics, Bioinformatics, or a related field (e.g. statistics, computer science, or quantitative biology).
- Experience in applying or developing computational methods or machine learning.
- Strong programming skills in Python/R.
- Solid foundational knowledge in human genetics and genomics.
- Experience working with next-generation sequencing data.
