Job Description
The Hydrogen and Fuel Cell Materials Group at Argonne National Laboratory is seeking to hire a postdoctoral appointee. This position is directed at integrating state-of-the-art catalysts and newly developed catalysts into low-temperature fuel cells, water electrolyzers, and carbon dioxide electrolyzers and understanding the factors limiting their device-level performance and durability and developing cell designs and methods to overcome these limitations.
This position is directed at designing, building, and utilizing tools and techniques for characterizing low-temperature fuel cells, water electrolyzers, and carbon dioxide electrolyzers. This position involves diagnostic studies of fuel cells and electrolyzers using a variety of electrochemical techniques and also evaluation of the components and materials using ex situ techniques.
Position Requirements
Comprehensive knowledge of the design, fabrication, electrochemical characterization, and factors governing the performance and durability of low-temperature fuel cells and electrolyzers
Comprehensive knowledge of the design of methods and instruments for the characterization of low temperature electrocatalysts, electrodes, and electrochemical devices
Excellent written and oral communication skills and the ability to work as part of a collaborative multi-institutional team are required
This level of knowledge is typically achieved through a formal education in chemistry, mechanical or chemical engineering, or physics at the Ph.D. degree level with 0-3 years of experience or equivalent in practical laboratory experience in the areas described in the job description
