The Department of Biological Sciences at the University of Pittsburgh invites applications for a postdoctoral associate in Developmental Evolution, to begin in January 2024 (negotiable). Applicants must have a background in genetics, development, genomics or evolution.
The successful candidate will work with Rebeiz lab in the Department of Biological Sciences to conduct novel collaborative research focusing on the molecular basis of phenotypic traits, the origins of novelty, and the function and evolution of gene regulatory networks.
Minimum requirements include a Ph.D. in genetics, development, evolution, or a related field, the ability to carry out experiments and conduct statistical analyses, evidence of scholarly work such as research presentations and publications, commitment to enhancing diversity and equity in STEM; work both independently and effectively with others in a team environment, proven ability to achieve goals and manage multiple tasks. Preferred qualifications include specific expertise in studying gene/genome function or evolution, demonstrated application of novel conceptual, experimental, or statistical approaches, documented record of conducting high-quality scientific research, demonstrated by publication in peer-reviewed journals, and demonstrated efficient and strong writing skills.
