Job Description
Job Description
--- The University of Oklahoma seeks to hire a postdoctoral scientist to participate in NIH-funded studies on thermosensory and gustatory biology. The projects will examine trigeminal neural mechanisms of thermosensation and temperature preference in ingestive behavior settings, and how trigeminal thermosensory processing influences taste preferences. The studies have implications for understanding multisensory coding in contexts related to feeding, thermosensation, and pain-related phenomena.
The position is based in Dr. Chris Lemon’s lab in the Department of Biology on the OU Norman campus (https://chrislemonlab.org/). The lab group seeks a self-motivated individual who desires to be part of a collaborative, team environment. The candidate will work on and build skills in mouse studies involving, in part, reversible molecular control of neurons during behavioral tasks, novel thermal behavioral and lickometry assays, systems neurophysiology, and application of advanced quantitative methods / programming for data analysis. Additional training will include opportunities to build writing and presentation skills, and lab mentoring/leadership.
The Lemon lab is housed in a modern research-dedicated building and is well-equipped for neuroscience research. On-campus core facilities include an advanced multiphoton and confocal microscopy facility that is available for lab use.
Interested candidates should submit a cover letter expressing their interest in the position, their CV, and the names and contact information for two references via email to [email protected].
