Applied Postdoctoral Fellow – Cancer Epidemiology
The Schabath Lab https://www.moffitt.org/research-science/researchers/matthew-schabath/ is one the first epidemiology labs to conduct AI-based research to develop and validate image-based biomarkers in the cancer care continuum.
Position Highlights:
- Conduct innovative and translation cancer research in a highly productive and collaborative team setting.
- Fellows will have access to large and diverse existing datasets that includes structured and unstructured data; You will be encouraged to develop your own independent research projects.

- You will be encouraged and supported to publish your research and apply for grants.
The Ideal Candidate:
- Strong written and oral communication skills and the ability to work independently and with collaborators.
- Strong quantitative skills in the areas of machine learning and deep learning
- Strong programming skills (e.g., Matlab, C/C++, Python, R, etc.,) for modeling and data analysis.
- Knowledge in population sciences/cancer epidemiology is desired, but not required.
Responsibilities:
- Design and conduct studies to train, validate, and test clinically relevant models using Artificial intelligence (AI), biostatistical, and bioinformatic methods.
- Develop scientific writing and presentation skills; write research abstracts, reports, and scientific publications.
- Present research results to the Moffitt scientific community and at national or international scientific meetings.
Credentials and Qualifications:
- PhD or MD in computer sciences, bioengineering, bioinformatics, biostatistics, or a related computational discipline is required.
- Excellent programming skills and written communication skills.
