Job Description
We seek candidates motivated and passionate about bacterial synthetic biology for biomedical applications. This includes investigating the microbiome's role in human health and utilizing bacteria as probiotics, diagnostics, or therapeutics for diseases such as cancer, cardiovascular and metabolic disorders, and inflammatory diseases.

Lerner Research Institute Department: Cardiovascular and Metabolic Sciences
Lab Research Topics:
- Using bacteria as cancer therapeutics
- Developing novel synthetic biology tools and strategies to control bacteria for biomedical applications.
- Investigating host-microbiome interactions in cardiovascular, metabolic, and inflammatory diseases.
- Developing RNA aptamers and Synthetic riboswitches

Job Responsibilities:
- Independent project design with the goal of data generation, analysis, interpretation and manuscript preparation
- Brainstorming and conducting literature reviews
- Conducting experiments, analyzing and managing data
- Presenting findings at regional and national conferences
- Writing manuscripts, and contributing to grant proposals.
Education:
- PhD or MD/PhD required
- MD with relevant laboratory experience may substitute for PhD
Languages:
- English Proficiency proof required for candidates arriving on J-1, J-2, or F1 + OPT visa status
Work Experience:
- Previous experience in a research or academic setting. Graduate student experience meets this requirement.
- Scientific writing experience
Additional Preferred Qualities:
- PhD in Biology, chemistry or related field
- Experience in either Bacterial sytnetic biology, Microbiome research or tumor immunology
- Self-motivation and dedication to research
- Analytical and creative thinking
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to perform work in a stationary position for extended periods
- Ability to operate a computer and other office equipment
- Ability to communicate and exchange accurate information
- Ability to distinguish color
- Manual dexterity to handle specimens and repair equipment
- Ability to lift and transport equipment or specimens weighing up to 20 pounds
- May be exposed to hazardous chemicals, bio-hazards, radioactive materials, etc.

Pay Range
Minimum hourly: $0.01
Maximum hourly: $333,340.26
