Job Description
The Muttil laboratory is looking for highly motivated recent Ph.D. graduates for a post-doc position. This position, which is being funded by the Department of Defense, offers an exciting opportunity for formulation scientists to advance their academic careers in developing slow-release vaccine formulations. We are considering applicants with a Ph.D. degree and experience in general and specialized laboratory skills. This includes expertise in spray drying, slow-release formulations, and micro- and nanoparticles; preclinical experience is preferred. The successful candidate will be expected to lead independent research, write and publish manuscripts, help write grants, present at scientific meetings, and mentor students. Additionally, the candidate is expected to collaborate closely with the University of New Mexico and outside collaborators.
The successful candidate will work with Dr. Pavan Muttil, Associate Professor and Chair in the Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences, College of Pharmacy, University of New Mexico, Albuquerque, NM.

Project description
The primary goal of this funded project is to develop a slow-release vaccine formulation that would allow a single dose to be effective. This project involves formulating microparticle-based vaccines through spray drying and characterizing these formulations. The project will also involve characterizing the vaccine formulation, including particle size, morphology, and vaccine stability at elevated temperatures.
Qualified post-docs with skills in spray drying drugs and vaccines, working with polymers and biomaterials, and working with animals are highly encouraged to apply. Excellent communication skills (written and spoken), prior publication in peer-reviewed journals, and the ability to work closely with others are essential. The candidate should be motivated to pursue research as a career, be a self-starter, and be independent.
