Position Summary
A Postdoctoral Researcher position is available in the Department of Materials Science and NanoEngineering (MSNE) at Rice University. We are seeking independent and creative candidates with outstanding track records to join our multidisciplinary research team. The selected individual will carry out research in the areas of nanophotonics and quantum optics of nanoscale materials and devices. Candidates with strong background in low-dimensional materials and devices, quantum optics, and nanophotonics are highly encouraged to apply. The selected individual will have access to state-of-the-art research facilities and gain in-depth knowledge of the research frontiers in these fields. He/she will also have the opportunity to be a part of a world-class scientific team and be involved in vigorous research programs.
Requirements
• Ph.D. or other doctoral degree in physics, chemistry, material science, electrical engineering, or a related discipline
• No experience required
Skills required
• A strong background in nanophotonics, confocal laser microscopy, and/or magneto-optical spectroscopy
• Familiarity with low-dimensional materials and/or their optoelectronic devices
• Excellent written and oral communication as well as data analysis skills
• Strong skills in collaboration and ability to work independently
Preferences
• Familiarity with conducting measurements at cryogenic temperatures is a plus
• Knowledge of programing languages such as LabVIEW, Python, MATLAB
• Familiarity with low-dimensional material processing is desired
• Experience in micro-/nano-structure fabrication and the related simulation tools (such as COMSOL, FDTD etc.)
• Experience working with magnetic fields is desired but not required
