The Perna lab seeks a talented and motivated Postdoc interestedin translational research projects centered around cancer immunotherapy. The research projects are creative, innovative, and based on cutting-edge technologies, such as CRISPR/Cas9 screenings, single-cell sequencing, development of chimeric antigen receptors, use of primary patient samples, and in vivo mouse work. The lab is funded by a NIH/NCI R37 MERIT award and additional grants from the National Cancer Institute as well as sponsored research agreements from industry. The environment is highly collaborative and includes immunologists, genetic engineers, physicians, and computational scientists.

The Ideal Candidate should have:
• Expertise in molecular cloning is required.
• Computational skills are favorably considered.
• Experience in cell/tissue culture, basic techniques in molecular biology and cancer biology and a willingness to work with mice is required.
• The candidate needs to be a team player, have critical thinking abilities, good communication, organizational, and writing skills. Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required.
• At least 2 years of experience in a wet research laboratory.
Responsibilities:
• Designs, organizes, and executes research experiments using existing lab protocols and procedures, using both in vitro systems and animal models, including genetic manipulation of cell lines with the CRISPR/Cas9 technology, PCR primer design, cloning plasmids, immune characterizations by flow-cytometry, sc analyses.
• Organizes and performs data analysis using appropriate statistical methods.
• Documents in detail experimental procedures and maintains lab inventories.
• Establishes new research protocols and procedures.
• Summarizes research findings and presents data on a regular basis.
• Presents at national/international meetings, workshops, and seminars.
• Prepares manuscripts for publication.
Credentials and Qualifications:
• PhD and/or MD.
