Job Description
Summary
The candidate will perform research related to Alzheimer's disease using in vitro systems and mouse models. The specific skills required include but not limited to biochemistry, biophysics, and molecular biology. Using these skill sets, the candidate will be responsible for multiple projects funded by the National Institutes of Health with the goal to identify key proteins, metabolites and associated pathways that contribute to Alzheimer's disease. This will have the potential in revealing new targets for therapeutic intervention.
Baylor College of Medicine is located in the Texas Medical Center campus. Besides the Baylor College of Medicine main campus located at One Baylor Plaza, Houston, Texas 77030, all participating sites include all Baylor College of Medicine’s affiliated teaching hospitals located in the Texas Medical Center campus in the Houston, Harris County District. Travel outside of the campus is not required.
Job Duties
-
Conducts independent research using mouse models and cell cultures.
- The techniques to be used are qPCR, transfection, Western blotting, immunostaining, flow cytometry., and metabolomics and lipidomics.
- Works in the Zheng laboratory but interacts and collaborates with other scientists at the Huffington Center on Aging and Baylor College of Medicine.
- Makes presentations at various meetings and also help the PI to train graduate students.
Minimum Qualifications
- MD or Ph.D. in Basic Science, Health Science, or a related field.
- No experience required.
Preferred Qualifications
- The applicant should have a Ph.D. or M.D. degree with expertise in biochemistry, molecular and cellular biology, neuroscience and mouse modeling.
