Job Description
The successful applicant will study the role of CFTR correctors on KCa3.1 (IK1), KCa2.x (SK2, SK3) and KCa1.1 (BKCa) channels using electrophysiological (patch-clamp and Ussing chamber) and cell biology techniques. These studies will be carried out on primary human bronchial epithelial cells as well as primary cortical and hippocampal neurons. The successful applicant will be expected to work with our collaborators on all aspects of this project. In addition, they will be expected to compile and analyze all data as well as write drafts of the resulting manuscripts in collaboration with the P.I. Finally, the successful applicant will be expected to present their work at the annual North American Cystic Fibrosis meeting.
Qualifications or Expectations:
- Ph.D. in physiology or Cell Biology. Experience with patch-clamp techniques, ideally on KCa3.1, KCa2.x and/or KCa1.1 channels. Experience with cell biology techniques, ideally on KCa3.1, KCa2.x and/or KCa1.1 channels. Ability to independently perform experiments and analyze data with mentoring from a faculty member. Ability to write and publish journal articles with mentoring from a faculty member.

Duties or Responsibilities:
- Written postdoctoral career development plan with guidance of your mentor including plans for grant and publication submissions. Spend full-time conduting research in collaboration with your mentor. Particiapte in research project meetings with your mentor and his collaborators. Publish at least one journal article as first author per year.
