Job Description
A postdoctoral position is available in Dr. Peijian He's lab at Emory University, Atlanta, Georgia. Dr. He's group studies the regulation of systemic iron homeostasis in physiology and disease conditions (Blood, 2024), and interrogates how the perturbed hepatocellular iron metabolism induces ferroptosis of the hepatocytes (Redox Biology, 2022 and 2023). The candidate will work with Dr. He to define the in-depth mechanism underlying mitochondrial iron dyshomeostasis associated with steatosis, and further identify the precise mechanism by which iron-catalyzed oxidative damage of the mitochondria induces hepatic ferroptosis that promotes liver injury and hepatic fibrosis. The study will be performed by leveraging the state-of-art technologies , including knockout and knockin mouse models, in situ iron and ROS staining, scRNAseq, and oxidative lipidomics. The potential candidate is expected to have a recent PhD or MD degree and strong research background in cell biology and/or metabolism. Previous experience in studying liver diseases is a plus. Applicants who are interested in this position are encouraged to send a cover letter and CV to [email protected].
