Job Description
Summary
The Department of Family and Community Medicine at Baylor College of Medicine is offering an innovative full-time primary care research fellowship to doctorally trained clinicians and residency graduates. The fellowship provides two years of 100% protected effort for primary care research experience and training. An optional third year will be available to fellows who desire further expertise and preparation in a certain field or area of primary care research.
This fellowship features a two-year core curriculum, emphasizes multidisciplinary team-based mentoring, and offers a diverse spectrum of primary care research opportunities for a successful academic career.
Job Duties
- Completes applied research projects, prepares and submits scholarly articles, attends scientific networking workshops/conferences, and writes grants for extramural funding with the assistance of a faculty mentoring team. An experienced faculty mentoring team will provide personalized mentorship and training tailored to individual career development goals.

Attends weekly didactic and applied sessions as part of their core curriculum, as well as a monthly research seminar and Fellows’ Forum. These structured activities will give fellows an opportunity to interact, serve as peer reviewers and advisors to one another, and provide feedback to the faculty regarding the quality and direction of the fellowship training program.
Minimum Qualifications
- Doctor of Medicine (MD).
- No experience required.
Preferred Qualifications
- Candidates with interests and goals that align well with the local and/or national primary care research agenda, and those with a demonstrated commitment to or involvement in activities related to primary care.
- Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) are also encouraged to apply.
- For terminal clinical degrees, completion of a clinical residency program in a primary care field or behavioral health is preferred.
