Job Description
Army Educational Outreach Program (AEOP) Internships and Fellowships provide paid civilian research opportunities for high school through postdoctoral individuals in U.S. Army Research Labs and Centers. Projects focus on the most current and cutting-edge priorities of the Department of Defense.
Recruiting postdoctoral researchers at West Point, where research is organized and executed through centers and institutes. These centers and institutes and the Academic Research Division provide the infrastructure necessary to tackle the Army and nation’s most challenging problems. Ongoing research is focused on solving current and future Army challenges using a diverse, interdisciplinary team of experts.
Seeking Postdoctoral Fellows for the following projects:
Biotechnology/Drug Discovery/Materials Science (USMA001)
The ability of specific proteins to convert into the amyloid state plays a central role in many neurodegenerative and systemic diseases, and this phenomenon is also important for numerous physiological processes through functional amyloids. The Limbocker and Burpo labs at the United States Military Academy, West Point are looking for a skilled scientist to lead fundamental studies on the use of amyloids for: 1) drug discovery to understand and counteract pathological processes associated with aberrant aggregation, in particular in the context of traumatic brain injury (TBI), and 2) materials science of amyloids for biotechnological applications. PhD and experience in protein science, biophysics, and/or materials science are preferred, but not required. The role includes mentoring and training of undergraduate cadet researchers, grant writing, preparation of manuscripts, and potential travel for conferences.
