Job Description
The Hong Lab at University of Florida (https://www.fanhonglab.com/) is seeking highly motivated postdoctoral fellows with expertise bio-imaging, molecular biology, synthetic biology, DNA nanotechnology, and protein biochemistry. The project is focused on the nucleic acid design for next generation nucleic acid-based gene therapeutics and imaging based spatial omics.
We are a multi-disciplinary team of scientists and engineers who are passionate about developing technologies that will improve access to health care. Assets include robust and creative biomolecular (DNA/RNA and proteins) engineering background, and strong experience in bio-imaging, bio-conjugation, and assay development. The role involves generating publications, contributing to grants and progress reports, mentorship of junior lab personnel, some lab management, and potentially project management.
Qualifications:
Successful candidates will have a Ph.D. in a relevant scientific field (e.g. biochemistry, chemical biology, biomedical engineering, molecular biology). We are looking for talented and enthusiastic researchers who are familiar with and has strong skill sets in the field of chemical biology and synthetic biology, including:
Bio-imaging
Design, assembly, and validation of DNA constructs
Protein expression and purification
Development of biochemical assays
Diagnostics development
Highly qualified candidates will also have strong writing skills, with an excellent publication record, including impactful work from field-relevant journals, and be able to prepare manuscripts for submission to peer-reviewed journals. The candidate will be able to work independently, while also working well as part of a collaborative team on group projects.
