Job Description
Postdoctoral Research Fellow – Patch-Clamp Electrophysiology, Ion Channels, and Renal/Vascular Physiology
A Postdoctoral Research Fellow position is available for a highly motivated scientist with strong hands-on experience in patch-clamp electrophysiology to study ion channel and G-protein–coupled receptor signaling in vascular and kidney cells.
The laboratory investigates the molecular and physiological mechanisms regulating ion channel function, calcium signaling, vascular reactivity, hypertension, and kidney injury. Ongoing studies combine electrophysiology with molecular, cellular, and functional approaches to understand the regulation of ion channels and related signaling pathways in renal and vascular cells.
Patch-clamp electrophysiology experience is required. Candidates should have substantial practical experience performing whole-cell and/or single-channel recordings and should be comfortable with experimental design, data acquisition, analysis, and troubleshooting of electrophysiological experiments.
Applicants should have:
- A PhD, MD/PhD, or equivalent doctoral degree in physiology, pharmacology, neuroscience, biophysics, molecular biology, or a related field
- Demonstrated expertise in patch-clamp electrophysiology
- Experience with molecular and cellular biology techniques
- A strong record of research productivity and peer-reviewed publications
- Strong analytical, communication, and scientific writing skills
- The ability to work independently and collaboratively in a multidisciplinary research environment
Additional experience with ion channel physiology, calcium imaging, vascular smooth muscle or endothelial cells, renal cells, transgenic rodent models, or pressure/wire myography would be advantageous but is not required.
The successful candidate will have opportunities to lead mechanistic studies, publish high-quality research, present findings at scientific meetings, contribute to grant-funded projects, and develop toward an independent research career.
Candidates should be highly motivated, technically rigorous, dependable, and genuinely interested in electrophysiology and ion channel biology.
All duties and research activities will be conducted in accordance with institutional policies, ethical research standards, and applicable federal regulations.
